Our Troops Still Need Your Help!

Operation Appreciation recently packaged up 450 pounds of goodies to nine of our service men in the northern Collin County area, who volunteered to protect our freedoms overseas.  The boxes weighed around 40 pounds each and the cost to send the packages was an average of $68 per box.

Our mailing coincided with Independence Day with the hope these brave men receive them on or around July 4th in appreciation of the many sacrifices they have made for our country.

While we are happy this latest mailing was successful and we had the funding to send out these packages to these deserving service people, we continue to seek funds as we once again begin the process for our fall mailing, which goes out between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.

We again ask for your assistance in helping us maintain this project that started with the Leadership McKinney Class of 2008 and continues to grow stronger thanks to the charitable donations of generous people like you.

To make a monetary donation, checks can be made payable to the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. On the memo line, please reference Operation Appreciation. Also, our troops can always use a few words of encouragement from home.

The Time to Support Our Troops is Now!!!

Operation Appreciation was originally initiated by the Leadership McKinney Class of 2008 as a class project. Leadership McKinney is a program of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. The heart-warming responses received from the military personnel who were the recipients of these care packages inspired members of the class to continue the program.

The City of McKinney's Blue Star list is used to identify deployed service personnel in McKinney. Operation Appreciation has also reached out to the North Collin County communities of Anna, Blue Ridge, Celina, Farmersville, Melissa, Princeton and Prosper to identify their deployed service men and women. Each service person's family is contacted to determine their specific needs. Care packages are assembled and sent twice annually to correspond with Christmas and Independence Day.

We are always collecting funds to help cover the cost of perishables and postage.  To make a monetary donation, checks can be made payable to the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. On the memo line, please reference Operation Appreciation. Also, our troops can always use a few words of encouragement from home.
